Helpful Tips

Creating a savings plan is a very individual process. It’s not a one size fits all approach. You need to plan it so that your savings work for you, your lifestyle and budget whilst at the same time giving you something long term to look forward to.

What’s even better about Izola Saver is that it’s flexible, you can access your funds for any emergencies (or last minute holiday opportunities for example) that crop up from time to time.

  • Start saving now, don’t let it slip on your to-do list.
  • Have a specific goal in mind because that way you’re aiming for something positive, not just saving for the sake of it.
  • Try this split - 50% goes to your needs, 30% goes towards your wants and 20% to your savings.
  • Always keep up with the minimum monthly payments on all your debts because the more debt-free you become, the freer you are to save.
  • Don’t save beyond your means, if your savings are making money too tight each month, reduce the amount to let yourself breathe a little easier.
  • Do you have a ready fund for emergencies? That’s always very useful.
  • If you’re in your 20s, aim to save about €1,000 every year if you can. You’ll end up with around 4.5 times more money this way!
  • Be organised! In the long run this saves you time and money (and stress).
  • Word of advice - don’t go food shopping when you’re hungry. Your trolley will end up being overloaded with unnecessary food. Stick to a list and go with a full tummy.
  • Be thrifty with your money! It’s always good to look out for cheaper options, and to plan your nights out with specific budgets in mind!

We hope this little list helps - it’s great to have something to refer to in order to keep yourself feeling focused on why you started saving.
